At present, phosphorus deoxidized copper and silver copper are widely used to make copper mold tubes in China. Chromium zirconium copper has not been widely used because of its high cost. This material has high strength and hardness, good conductivity and thermal conductivity, and its mechanical properties are much higher than the commonly used mold copper pipe materials, and the price is low. It has been popularized and used in domestic and foreign markets and achieved good results At present, the taper value of high-efficiency mold copper pipe used by various steel mills is generally 0.6% ~ 0.9% M. when pulling low carbon steel and low alloy steel, the taper value takes the middle and lower limit, and when pulling medium carbon steel and high carbon steel, the taper value takes the upper limit. In order to ensure that the inner cavity trend of the copper tube is consistent with the cooling shrinkage of the billet over the whole length of the mold, the inner cavity trend of the copper tube of the mold should be parabolic continuous taper. When pouring low carbon steel and low alloy steel, the apex of parabola shall be designed at the lower mouth of copper pipe. At the same time, the taper distribution of high-efficiency mold should also match with other process parameters in drawing steel.
